TOOL Gearing Up For BIG DAY OUT

December 18, 2006

Launch Radio Networks reports: TOOL just finished up this year's touring schedule with a two-month run through Europe, and the band's first stops in 2007 are Australia and New Zealand. The quartet is headlining the annual Big Day Out festival down under, and TOOL drummer Danny Carey told Launch he's really looking forward to it. "I just love touring down in Australia, it's one of my favorite places," he said. "The people are always just so friendly and nice, and really into rock 'n'roll too. The weather's always beautiful down there and the country's nice also, and it's one of the places that we haven't been as much as a lot of other territories, so there's always things to explore, too. I love going down there and I'm really looking forward to doing the Big Day Out."

Big Day Out begins on January 19 in Auckland, New Zealand and will also feature MUSE, JET, THE KILLERS, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and others.

Following that, TOOL will launch another North American jaunt in mid-March.

TOOL is nominated for two Grammy Awards this year. The band is up for Best Hard Rock Performance for its song "Vicarious", while guitarist Adam Jones is nominated for Best Recording Package, thanks to his work as art director for the band's latest album, "10,000 Days".

"10,000 Days" has sold more than 1.3 million copies since its release last May. The CD's current single is "The Pot".
